Teratospermia is a condition characterized by the presence of abnormal morphology sperms with that affects
fertility in males.
Habits like smoking and
varicocele are often associated with decreased normal forms (morphology).
Presence of abnormally-shaped sperm can negatively affect fertility by preventing its transport through the cervix and/or preventing sperm from adhering to the ovum. Hence, achieving a pregnancy may be difficult.
However, it may not be the cause that could be directly attributed to
missed abortion.
Causes for missed abortion include:
1. anembryonic gestation (
blighted ovum)
2. fetal chromosomal abnormalities
3. maternal diseases
4. embryonic anomalies
5. placental abnormalities
6. uterine anomalies
Hence, the above mentioned causes should be investigated and treated accordingly.
