Does Testosterone Replacement Therapy Cause Hair Loss And Baldness?

I ve been on bio-identical hormones for about 8 years. Including estradiol, testosterone,progesterone and thyroxine. I m Experiencing hair loss and even male pattern baldness. Could the testosterone replacement therapy be causing this? From what I ve researched, I decided to just stop the testosterone and see what happens. I m not due to see my hormone Dr for a few more months.

Yes. Your guess is right. Testosterone replacement therapy is known to be associated with hair loss and baldness. This is because, in the body, testosterone gets converted to DHT (Dihydrotestosterone). DHT is known to destroy hair follicles in the scalp region causing weakening of hair roots leading to excess hair fall and baldness.
