Does The Following Spirometry Result Indicate Asthma?
Hello. My 17 year old daughter is applying to a service academy and had a complete medical. I indicated she has had wheezing a age 12 and they ordered a spirometry. The results showed a very slight obstruction with all other numbers in normal range. She has never had symptoms or been treated for asthma and is a year-around athlete. We saw an allergist that said the results could be due to her cat allergy (we own and live with a cat). Does this result always indicate asthma? I m not sure what information to provide the service academy as they have initiated a waiver on her behalf. We re not trying to beat the test , but daughter has never had symptoms or been treated for lung issues. Any insight is appreciated.
