Does The Pain In Chest Be Just A Bruised Muscle?

My wife was laying on top of me, and had her hand on my chest near my heart. She went to get up and pushed herself up with her hand, when I heard a popping sound. I've fractured ribs before and know the pain. This hurts, but not as bad as the times I've fractured ribs. Could is just be a bruise to the muscles?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that it is just a soft tissue injury particularly since the pain is not as severe as you would have experienced with the fractured ribs.

You can consider the use of anti inflammatory pain killer such as ibuprofen, cataflam or naproxen. Only one of these should be used and it should be on a full stomach.

If the pain does not improve or worsens then you can consider visiting your doctor for an evaluation.

I hope this helps
