Does The Presence Of Commensal Perineal Flora Indicate A Urinary Tract Infection?

My first urine analysis showed trace of blood but no bacteria. It was a very low volume of urine tested. The doctor ordered a second test of a urine culture. The culture results showed presence of commensal perineal flora. Does this indicate a urinary tract infection? I have not heard back from my doctor, just got the test result in an e-mail. Thank you.

Hello. Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic. Commensals mean the normal bacteria residing on the skin etc. They are harmless and mostly beneficial in not letting pathogenic bacteria and Fungal growth. It is mostly due to contamination of your sample during collection. So it's not of any issue. But blood in urine needs to be investigated. Go in for a pelvic ultrasound to rule out any calculus or papilloma etc. Thanks. For further query do write again.
