Does Thick, Stringy And Light Pink Discharge Indicate Pregnancy?

I have been taking ortho try lo for 3 months, I have been on this on and off for 5 years. Recently I went back to my obgyn and had her put me on the pills again. The first month I missed a couple pills, still had a period. The second month I missed one pill instead of taking it when I remembered I just took it late and was a day off from that point, but it was on the last week of the pills. The last day I took a bc pill was on that Saturday, I had sex that Sunday unprotected. So that Monday I took a plan B to make sure I wasn t pregnant. My period was supposed to be that week but never came. So I started taking my birth control pills anyway on the day o was supposed to. On day 4 of the new pack I had been taking the same time every day not missing, I began having brown discharge that I thought was my period. But it was never enough to use a tampon or pad I had a little on my panties a couple days but other than that just when I wiped. I am not on day 10 of the brown discharge & I almost to my 3rd week of pills. Today the discharge has changed from still brown to light pink in it. So far it s been thick and stringy. I hav had light cramps over the last few days. Usually when I do have a period it s not heavy and no cramping & only a few days. I have taken pregnancy tests all of which have said negative, but I had one last week with a faint second line, I took one the next day and it was negative and all have been since. I just wanted to see if it was possible I still could be pregnant or what could be going on. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, Welcome to Ask a doctor services. I have read your query.

Since you have missed your CP pills & once your pregnancy test showed faint second line, you are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get USG done to detect pregnancy.

HCG, can be detected in the blood faster than in the urine. You can also take a blood test to detect presence of HCG.

Discharge with a pink hue is commonly seen in early pregnancy.

Hope I have answered your question, take care.

Dr Nupur K
