Hello, thyroxine may indeed cause side effects to the liver. Such effects are only caused by overdosage. Appropriate doses won't cause any liver damage. The thyroid gland produces thyroxine, so this is a natural hormone. If you take it as your doctor adviced you and you test for thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) then you should not worry. A normal TSH level rules out any liver damage by thyroxine. Besides the blood test, please note that overdosage would have caused you symptoms before your liver could get affected. Usual symptoms of overdosage include tachycardia, palpitations, tremor, sweating, irritability etc I hope I've addressed your concerns! If you need more information on the subject, please let me know. Kind Regards!
