Does Treatment For Lichen Planopilaris On Scalp Cause Hair Loss?

I have been diagnosed with Lichen Planopilaris on my scalp. I am experiencing a lot of hair loss and have been seeing a dermatologist for about 10 months now. I am going to be 60 yrs old in 2 weeks and have never had a issue with hair loss until this diagnosis. No one can give me a cause for this condition. I want to know what i can do since I am not seeing results from my current treatment. I have been told by the doctor that is treating me that the hair loss is permanent. Is there any way to reverse this?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are wondering if treatment for lichen planopilaris on scalp cause hair loss. well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons like genetic factor , fungal infection and hormonal changes. In your case it seems to me that the the siede effects of the medicine you are taking for lichen planopilaris can be on of the factor responsible for hair fall. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor may order skin patch test , blood test and physical examination. Also discuss about side effects of the medicine to doector , so that doctor may alter the dose or prescribe substitute .Doctor may also prescribe supplements like Vitamin A ,Omega-3 and Vitamin E . Doctor may also recommend hair transplant with HUE technique. Take Indian goose berry powder ( half spoon ) with water once a day and use olive for massage . keep your scalp dry.
