Does Trimethroprim Intake Affect Contraception?
I have been pescribed trimethoprim for the next three days as I have cystitus. I take the yasmin contraceptive pill and I am currently in the week break. I will take the first table of yasmin for my next month on saturday. Will the antibiotic effect my contraception from saturday onwards?

Yasmin is a low dose contraceptive ,while trimethoprim is a sulpha group antibiotics most successfully uses in URINARY TRACT INFECTION.
Trimethoprim only interfere with warfarine , phenytoin , methotraxate pyrimethamine . There is no scientific proof that it interfere with yasmin ( in its contraceptive property).
You can use safely.
