Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I recently took the typhoid vaccination in the pill form, and now my period is very late and may be missed soon. I am sexually active but on birth control and using condoms so it is highly unlikely I am pregnant. Is the period issue because of the vaccine?
As per literature, typhoid vaccine is not known to cause any interference with menstrual cycle.
Cycle of menstrual period may normally variate between 24-35 days. The delay may be because of stress/exertion/inadequate diet or anaemia/obesity. If the delay occurs more than 7-9 days repeatedly every month,it may be cause of anaemia/thyroid disorders/polycystic ovary syndrome/pelvic inflammatory disease. -Take adequate and healthy diet and maintain hydration. -Keep body weight within control by regular exercising -Practice regular yoga and meditation to destress your mind. -If same thing happens every month ,visit to gynaecologist to rule out above mentioned possibilities.Further management will depend upon diagnosis.
Hope this information helps. Feel free to ask any more query.
