Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Undergoing Surgery For Ovarian Cyst Lead To Difficulty In Conception?
My sister is 29 yrs old.An ovarian cyst was detected a year ago. It does not show any significant reduction despite getting best treatment. Please suggest an alternative to surgery as most Gynaecologists insisted on it .Another problem is the likelihood of redeveloping the cyst after the surgery. Also, Will there be any difficulty in conceiving a baby after she gets married?.
hello.. thanks for posting in HCM. I have gone through the query and understand your concern. ovarian cyst is surgically removed usually when the size of it is too big or if it is rapidly growing. If the size of the cyst is small then it is better to wait and watch. I would advice her to wait until after she gets married and have kids, if the size of the cyst keeps growing she can get it removed then. As for as the conceiving is concerned, you need not worry. Many women with ovarian cysts conceive spontaneously. Even if your sister doesn't, then there are many assisted reproductive methods to help her conceive. hope my answer helped. feel free to write back in case of any queries.
