Does Upper Respiratory Infection Cause Pounding Heart And Fluctuating Heart Rate?
I recently got diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection and ear infection. i have noticed at night that i am struggling to breathe. My oxygen level is normal at 99. I can also feel my heart pounding and my heart rate is jumping up and down. Is this all caused from myinfection or something else?
You can have bronchitis like respiratory infection.... It can lead difficult breathing.... Symptomatic management done ... Confirm it by auscultation and x ray ... Spirometry done for assessing severity....
You needs to be given decongestant like antihistaminic drug if congestive symptom present... Steam inhalation useful.....
In infection palpitations can occurs.... So increase heart rate can be there....
But if heart rates markedly fluctuate then ECG or ECHO done and also measuring blood pressure .....to rule out cardiac condition...
CBC and CRP also done for work up....
Consult pylmonologist for examination with keeping this answer in mind...
Take care
