Does Urine Culture In Acute Prostitis Show If The Antibiotic Needs To Be Changed ?

I think my husband has acute prostitis we went to an after hours clinic and he was given microbid for 7 days now everything I read says that he should be taking cipro for much longer than that will the urine culture show if the antibiotic needs to be changed?

Thanks for your query,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your husband has acute prostatitis and have been prescribed Microbid for 7 days.

Prostatitis takes long time to get cured hence it is always better to take appropriate antibiotic for which you have to do urine culture and culture of a prostatic fluid obtained by doing prostatic massage .

You will need help of a health personnel for prostatic massage to get prostatic fluid.


You may continue with Microbid till you get culture report and later on switch on to appropriate antibiotic as per culture report.
