Does Usage Of Listerine Damage The Tooth Extraction Area?

I used Listerine for about a day . Starting 3 days after my tooth extraction. Then I found out you can't use Listerine because of the high alcohol content. And now I have slight twinges of pain in my tooth extraction area . And I was wondering if I did unreversible damage to my tooth socket . Or if because it was only a day of using Listerine am I still okay ? Or did I just give myself dry socket?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. as per your query you have got tooth extraction done and you used Listerine mouth wash with in 3 days. Pain in tooth socket area is mainly due to concentration of mouth wash as these are found in concentrated solutions and we have to dilute them because use and it could be possible you allergic to any ingredient of this mouth wash. You should stop using it and do warm saline gargles. You should visit dentist once and get complete examination done and get Eugenol dressings done as it seems dry socket in extraction area. Maintain complete hygiene.
