Does Usage Of Silicon Gel Help In Treating A Cut Mark On Cheek?

Hello doctor! I met with an accident on about 12 days back and got a deep cut on my cheek, there was also a glass piece which was removed after approximately 9 hours, a plastic surgeon gave internal dissolvable stitches and advised to use cold cream sunscreen and silicon gel thrice a day. Is that the best I can do for my skin because I read somewhere that it should be left to heal naturally. Which products should I use, I read about petroleum jelly and silicon pads is that the best?

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, plastic surgeon have managed the wound well and it can be continued however you are right that after the formation of scab and tissues fibrotic bands, vaseline can be used after the skin has met to its ended as vaseline massage may be helpful to reduce the incidence of scar formation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
