Hi sir,iam 22 yrd old..i m diagnosed by GP and told me that i have varicocele in both testis but one in left is bigger....i have dull ache in left testis but no such pain in right testis....doc gave me some medications and recommended me not to go to surgery unless i experience any shrinkage in testis.....so can i continue like this or should i consult an urologist......GP doc didnt ask me to get US or SPERM analysis watsoever.....he just felt it physically....he said young men shouldnt prefer surgery unless you have unbearable pain....im worried that i might get infertility....i have a personal career problem....i am moving out of country in 2 days....should i cancel my travel and get varicocele repaired...what should i do?
Hi, your Doctor is right. Varicocele should be operated only if it is causing problems or decreasing your sperm count. If you are very worried about it, then you can get a Semen analysis done in consultation with your Doctor. Though it is not required if you feel normal otherwise. Only a semen analysis would be able to confirm whether your sperm count and quality are normal. Take care, Dr Rishi, New Delhi, India.
