Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 24, I have varicocele stage-2(left testis, whose length from body is lesser compared to the right testis), I read in the sites that it can cause infertility. The problem is if my penis gets erected for long time I get pain in left testis. I am worried a lot what to do. Whether to go under surgery or should not. I sometimes feel my testis are hotter. Please also suggest me whether I can jeans(currently which I wear is little tight) or should go with light pants. Please help me in understanding my situation.
You have a history of stage 2, Varicocele. Since you are getting pain in the left testis on erection of the penis, you are suggested to get clinically examined by a urologist. Yes, if varicocele is causing symptoms it may cause infertility.
The urologist may order a scrotal ultrasound test. Semen analysis may be ordered to detect if varicocoel repair will be needed to prevent any infertility problems. Type of repair or surgery will depend on the severity of the pathology detected(microscopic varicocelectomy, laproscopic varicocelectomy, percutaneous embolozation). After surgery you should avoid exercises for 10-14 days.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
