Does Ventouse Delivery Cause Nystagmus And Vision Problems In Children?
Hi I had a really bad birth I was left for a long time pushing even tho my son had turned and there was no way I was giving birth naturally I had the vontuse in the end which was used twice as it pulled off all very painful and baby was destressed I want to know if this could be the cause for my sons nystagmas and vision problems he s had MRI and his brain is fine
The nystagmus and vision problems in child following Ventouse delivery is related to cerebral hypoxia produced during the procedure of prolong labour. The long term deficiency of oxygen to certain parts of the brain bring various types of reversible as well as irreversible changes depending upon the degree of anoxia or hypoxia. The clinical examination from neurological point of view is important along with keeping a track over the developmental milestones of motor, sensory and cognitive function lines.
