Does Vitamin Deficiency Cause Black Eyes?

My 22 month old looks like he has two black eyes. Is he nutrient deficient or what is this a sign of? We haven't tried anything yet cause it just became really noticeable over the last week. If he does have a deficiency can he take a vitamin or some other supplement?
