Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi there,I was in a Detox facility for 6 days to come off of 6 years of Tramadol and 2 years of Butalbital (both abused).I was discharged with 30 days worth of Keppra (2x p day). I just finished the medication and now dont know if I should go to a doctor to continue taking or just leave as is.After being off I definately feel as if in withdrawal a bit.Any suggestions are welcome.
First let me congratulate you for successfully detoxifying Tramadol and butalbital from your body and giving them up. Coming to Keppra, it's not good to stop it abruptly. You can do the following: 1) Take Keppra once daily for 2 weeks 2) Take once daily every alternate day for another week This regimen should prevent withdrawal effects of Keppra.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
