Does Withdrawal Of Meloxicam Cause Swelling Of Stomach And Rib Cage?
I recently was advised to stop taking Meloxicam 7.5mg tablets once a day, due to stomach problems- Wednesday 11th February. Since I stopped using them my stomach and rib cage has become swollen and tender. I was prescribed these tablets alongside Gabapentine and lansoprazole. I suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome, Fibramyalgia and chronic asthma.I am disabled due to these conditions.
It is possible that the meloxicam may have been associated with gastritis or irritation of the stomach.
If this is the case, then stopping the medication should have relieved some of these symptoms. Discontinuation is not normally associated with the symptoms described unless it was being used to treat these symptoms and absence of the medication caused them to recur.
You may need to see your doctor to determine if this is the case or the discomfort is related to another cause.
I hope this helps
