Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi... I have taken paxil for 10 years with no real side effects. My weight stayed within a healthy range. I'm in my 40's now and of course if I didn't work out and ate too much ice cream I would gain some, but that is normal. (I'm 5'1 and have always between 100 and 115 pounds). I recently weened off Paxil and now my anxiety/worry has returned. My doctor wanted me to try Zoloft. If I had such good results with paxil and weight maintenance, can I expect the same with Zoloft?

Internal Medicine Specialist, Dr. Ivo Ditah's Response
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I don't understand why your doctor would want to try a new medication when the old one worked marvels over 10years. My advice is to stick to paxil and stop trying a new drug. Zoloft. paxil, etc have varying results in different clients. What works best for you would not necessarily work best for the next person. Because you identified what works best for you, I strongly recommend you stay on it unless otherwise. I cannot use generalized results to override a 10years experience with great results.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
