I had a TSH test in 1/2012 with a result of 4.1. I had another 2 weeks ago (7/2012) and the result was .726 Does this mean it has improved tremendously in that short of time? In July they also did a (TPO) AB test with a result of 125. (Did not do this test in January) In looking at the ranges of the TPO test (0-34), the 125 value appears to be off the chart. Am I significantly better in one way and horribly worse in another? Can you please explain these results?
Hi, Good day, The new results indicate that your Thyroid functions are better now. Are you taking Thyroxine ? As the TPO levels are higher, that means that you have auto immune thyroid disease . The body's immune system is working against thyroid gland. This process can cease and can improve over time. But if it continues, you may develop hypothyroidism in the future. There is no need to worry. You just have to monitor your TSH every 6 months or so and if it remains stable, then every 1-2 years. Regards Binu
