Done Hysterectomy. Red, Dry And Swollen Face After Facial. What Should I Do?
I am 4 weeks post op from a hysterectomy and my face was feeling dry so I went to get a hydrating facial yesterday. I have never had a chemical peel , but that s it now looks like. The techician had to stop the facial becuase I could not tolerate the burning sensation. He tried to help by putting on a soothing mask. But my face became and still is today very red, splotchy, and a little swollen. I cannot get into see a dermatologist until Monday. What should I do until then? Will this go away and how long will it take. Im afraid to put on make up and have to be able to function in the public next week. help!

Hi there,
It seems like you have got Contact Dermatitis due to the facial or the peel,so better to avoid that in future.
For now i think you need to start applying 1% Hydrocortisone ointment on the areas involved twicw a day for at least 57 days.
You should also take Tablet Zyrtec 10 mg once in the night with the ointment.
It should get settle in 3-7 days time but if not then you need to see your derm to have look and proceed further.

it appears to be a case of contact dermatitis. the best solution is to apply bland moisturiser like white petrolatum jelly frequently so as to soothe the skin and make it soft. a mild topical steroid twice a day for 5-7 days along with some antihistamines should do the magic
please stress more on bland mositurisers to soothe the raw skin
