Done Metatarsal Surgery. Painful, Swollen, Bluish After Removing Cast. Normal?
Hi Doctor. I had a right foot surgery of the first metatarsal. Suture and plaster cast were removed but still in pain and slightly swollen. On the day it was removed I went home with an Aircast boot. Everytime I remove this boot swelling is worst and turns bluish even if I apply light air in it. Is this a normal side effect?
Post surgically the internal structures will take sometime to heal. So you may experience mild pain. There will be mild edema also at times. But if this complaints persist and hinders in your day to day activities then a reevaluation is needed. Consult your doctor for more information.
