OBGYN 's  Response
Hi Ms. Tasha,
As a consequence of the anesthesia given during any surgical procedure, there is slowing of bowel movement and as a result you could be constipated for a while. Eat well and drink plenty of water to aid healing; walking short distances without discomfort also is advantageous to keep yourself active. If you are still constipated, you may use mild laxatives and local application of xylocaine jelly. Any pain in the pelvic area can lead to difficulty in passing urine as a reflex; if it is not relieved you may try applying hot water over the abdomen or urinary anti-spasmodics. Hope your query is clarified. Take care.
