Drooling After Taking Risperdal Prescribed By Therapist. Suggest

I have a friend in jail and he is seeing a therapist in there.they put him on meds.(Risperdal 75mg.) He is concerned course it makes him drouel.I only just read a letter so I'm not sure of any other side affects. He wanted me to call some 1-800-Bad-meds number to find out if this med is bad for him and is concerned about the droueling.(not sure of that spelling)

Dear patient,

Indeed, some antipsychotics are associated with drooling, it has been described for risperidone; the best course of action would be for him to discuss with the therapy about alternative options, since there are many types of mood-modulating drugs.

Yours truly,

Dr Brenes-Salazar MD
