Dry Itchy Cough With Yellowish Mucus, Shortness Of Breath. Bronchitis?

My work mates think i may be suffering from bronchitis- how can i tell ? i have a mostly dry itchy cough, but at times i am coughing up mucas -this is of a yellow colour and quite thick, i have had coughing fits, to the point i almost "throw up". My chest is sore and tight from the coughing. i am short of breath ( although i am asthmatic) after physical activity.
I had the flu shot about 3-4 weeks ago- could it just be that?
I also play football- should i cease until i feel the cough has eased?

My question would be in regards to your asthma medications. What inhalers are you using? Have you tried using your inhaler meds to see if this helps with your symptoms. If sounds like it's related to some form of an asthmatic reaction.
