Dry Skin Below Ankle Bone, Not Painful Or Discolored. Any Thoughts?
I have an area of extremely dry skin below my ankle bone. I would guess it is about 1.5 inches in diameter; it appears as though it is spreading to my ankle bone. It is not painful nor discolored. I haven t worn shoes for 4 months so nothing is rubbing against that area. Any thoughts? I will be going to the doctor for a physical soon. Thank you.

A dry skin near ankle bone could simply be xerosis. It could also be eczema or fungal infection. Xerosis would respond to good emollients. Eczema would require steroid cream with emollient and fungal infection would require an antifungal like clotrimazole cream.
The diagnosis can only be confirmed by visiting a dermatologist.
