Hello,
Thanks for asking to HCM
There are many reasons for dry mouth.
First of all dehydration due to less intake of fluids or more of humidity and excessive perspiration.
Secondly there can be diabetes or alcoholic and because of that the mouth dries up too soon as the fluid requirements increases.
Thirdly if some one is a tobacco chewer or smoker then the small salivary glands in the mouth are damaged and so the salivary secretions are decreased.
Then there are some of the autoimmume disease which causes dryness in the mouth-- like systemic sclerosis, xeroderma etc.
You need to see if the above mentioned first 3 conditions are not there then you could go for the blood tests to rule out autoimmune disease.
