Dull Ache, Twinge In Left Rib Upto Shoulder Blade. Took Antibiotics, Steroids For Bronchitis. Both Related?
I have a pain for the last few days now - a dull ache, a twinge, in left rib, sometimes just below rib, sometimes up to the shoulder blade - it moves around a bit....I don't know if a bout of bronchitis that had me on antibiotics and steroids for 5 days has anything to do with it. They finished 2 weeks ago now though. Hmm...
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. Since you mentioned that there was bronchitis , but bronchitis usually don't develop pain in lungs . However pain in the lungs and left shoulder are related to each other as nerve supply of diaphragm ( membrane separating abdomen from thorax ) and left shoulder joint are same , so if any pain occurs on lower part of lung this may irritate diaphragm and hence pain in vagus nerve so also in shoulder joint. In my opinion get in an X RAY of chest to rule out any disease in lungs as may be, 1 pleural effusion , 2 thickened pleura. As you took treatment 2 weeks ago and pain is even after 2 weeks , this is a cause of concern so confirm it after consultation with a physician. Good luck. Dr. HET
