Hi Abhay,
Thanks for writing in.
All her symptoms of
nausea,
anorexia,
fatigue, fever, high ESR , might be due to the
urinary tract infection. Once the infection clears from her body, she might feel fine.
Another reason for her fatigue might be due to
anxiety, due to the fact that her sister is diagnosed with
myeloma.
Elevated blood sugars and
cholesterol levels are other causes of fatigue.
To help in treating all the above conditions, I would advise her to do regular exercise 30 - 45 minutes a day 5 days a week. Exercise releases endorphins which might make her feel good. Is she is not used to exercising, start gradually with 10-15 minutes a day , and as days pass gradually increase it to 30- 45 minutes a day. Exercise is good for reducing sugar levels, cholesterol levels.
Sign up for yoga/relaxation classes, which will help allay any anxiety.
Drink plenty of fluids . It will help clear the urinary tract infection.
Ensure regular periodic emptying of the bladder.
Abstain from sexual intercourse till the infection clears.
Once the infection is cleared , to prevent further episodes of urinary tract infection, it would be wise to empty the bladder before and after intercourse.
Preferably use olive oil for cooking and in salads as olive oil helps in cutting down the cholesterol levels. Oats as a porridge in skim milk is good for reducing blood sugars as well as cholesterol levels.
Avoid fatty, deep fried food. Avoid red meat like mutton.
Chicken and egg whites can be consumed occassionally.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
