Hi
Thanks for writing in.
I am a qualified and certified cardiologist. I read your mail with diligence.
Most common cause of symptoms which you have described are exposure of area of skin and beneath the skin to injurious chemical(s) which probably happened during your rigorous housework and busy as you were you remained oblivious to it then. The rule of the thumb is to
seek medical help if any of the following is present (then a doctor ought to see and examine):
a). If the
bruise is accompanied by swelling and extreme pain, especially if you take a
blood-thinning medication for a medical condition. Swelling is there, if it does not subside in a
day.
b). If bruising occurs easily or for no apparent reason. Here you have had it before so plan to see
your doctor
c). If the bruise is painful and under a toenail or fingernail, no pain now does not apply
d). If a bruise does not improve within two weeks or increases over days. So you can hold for
today but If it persists into new year, you should not be hesitant.
Lastly, if pain or itching re occurs, be prepared to go to ER and have it seen by a doctor.
