Episodes Of Fainting When Hot, Has Muscle Spasms, Body Twitching While Fainting. Is This Normal When Body Gets Overheated?

My daughter has had a couple of episodes of fainting over the last 7 or 8 months particularly when hot.Whilst fainting she seems to have muscle spasms twitching of the body and limbs.She is 15 years old should I contact the gp or is this normal when the body gets overheated.The most recent episode is when she was very hot playing basketball.Please advise.

Hi,

Thanks for posting your query.

The way you describe the problem in your daughter I suggest that you get your daughter examined by a doctor who shall run a battery of investigations. Episodes of fainting with muscle spasms is suggestive of convulsions and need to be taken seriously to rule out some underlying condition. Usually heat does not precipitate such a condition but triggering factors need to be found out.
