Everything Except Cervix Removed During Partial Bilateral Abdominal Hysterectomy. What Is The Recovery Like ?
Hi I am preparing for a partial bilateral abdominal hysterectomy on July 31. Everything is being removed except cervix - wondering what exactly that means and what recovery will be like. I have never had problems with my fibroids but because I am post menopausal and they have not reduced in size as well I have a cyst, my gp and surgeon have recommended this procedure.

Hi, Thanks for using HCM. After menopause usually fibroid size decreases. Since you have ovarian cyst also which shoul be drained before any complication in one setting they are planned to remove ovaries and uterus. There wont be any structural problem in External appearance and for your sexual activity, but there wont be uterus for pregnancy. And after menopause there is no hormones from ovary so they will remove them.
Hope I answered your question. Consult your doctor for further management. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries. Wish you good health. Take care.
Regards Dr. Lohit K
