Excessive Popping In Ear With Bleeding, Feeling Of Bug Crawling In The Ear. Had Done Swimming, Air Travel. Cause?

My sister DID just fly on two plains a week ago and we have been swimming some here and there since but now her ear is bleeding a little and a lot of popping. This started when she felt a bug crawl on her ear and she freaked out. She says that it feels like the bug is in my ear and is trying to crawl out. What could be happening to her ear?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello. Welcome to hcm.
As she had a swim in unknown water, the water might have entered the middle ear causing secretory ottitis media. As there was bleeding, the ear drum might have ruptured. Normally middle ear has only air in it but when water fills, there will be alteration in dynamics causing sounds in ear.
I advice you to consult a surgeon so that he can put you on antihistamines and antibiotics. Secretions can be sent for culture. Xray if necessary.
Also avoid swimming till it completly heals.
All the best
