Experienced Tightness Lower Leg, Between Knee And Ankle. Cramp, Hernia, Exertional Compartment Syndrome?

While training for Track today, I experienced a tightness (cramping feeling) in my right lower leg, toward the outside and midway between my knee and ankle. It was a small not. This is the first time it has happened. While reading about this, should i be concerened about a hernia or exertional compartment syndrome, or was this just a small cramp?

Hi and thank you so much for this query. I am so sorry to hear about what you experienced with your leg.

If this is the first time you experienced this, then i will like you to consider it a cramp. Common things are more common. However, if it should become repetitive, then we may choose to explore the possibility of a hernia or exertional compartment syndrome. If the symptoms all subsided within hours, then they are even more less likely.

For now, keep calm and observe more is the best way forward. Exercise is good. Keep doing it to improve and maintain your health. Always strive to stay hydrated during exercise by drinking much water volumes.

I hope this helps and provides a logical approach towards approaching and resolving this problem.
I wish you good health.
