Experiencing Ankle & Knee Pain

I slipped off a curb 2 days ago and hit my knee on the underside of a car. my knee is painful and stiff, but now my ankle also hurts. I haven't been to the doctors or hospital as I haven't had time. Should I go and get it checked out? What could be wrong and is there anything that can actually be done?
