Experiencing Larger Than Normal Floater, Flashes On Far Right Side Of Visual Field. Concerning?

I have been experiencing a larger than normal floater for about 2 hours. It is late at night and in the house, the floater is the only issue, but outside in the dark, I noticed flashes on the far right side of my visual field (right eye). Is this aan emergency situation that requires going to a hospital emergency room or can it wait until I can contact an opthalmologist after the weekend?

i think you should go for a detail eye check up as early as possible, it may be a simple condition like posterior vitreous detachment or others like retinal detachment, do you wear minus glasses? these conditions are more prone to myopic patients, ..

Ophthalmologist Dr. Bilal Hassan's  Response
Hi Friend I am Dr Bilal and I am an Ophthalmologist
Welcome to Health Care Magic and thanks for writing to us .
I would like to answer your question and your satisfaction is my goal .

From the history given by you , you are experiencing a larger than normal floater for about 2 hours . ( You should have mentioned your age and any previous medical history of any such problem ) . I would suggest you , not to take it lightly and seek immediate medical attention as the floaters is accompanied by flashes of light . Without immediate treatment, you can have permanent vision loss. These symptoms may be caused by a retinal detachment , retinal tear or bleeding within the eye . So visit your eye doctor soon .

Wish you good luck .
Best regards .
