Experiencing Pain On The Upper Right Side Of The Ribs

For about two weeks I ve been having pain in my upper right side on my ribs, about three inches below my arm pit. I haven t had any injury to that side. Taking Advil and Aleve helps, but if I move a certain way, it can take my breath away. It s more of a sharp pain. I would think this is what an injured rib feels like, but I haven t done anything for it to be injured.

Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
In your case we need to rule out pleurisy first.
Pleurisy is inflammation of pleura. The sharp pain is seen in pleurisy. So get done chest x ray to rule out possible causes for pleurisy ( pneumonia, tuberculosis, pleural effusion) etc.
If chest x ray is normal then no need to worry much for pleurisy.
Muscle pain can be the cause.
So start painkiller and muscle relaxant. Avoid strenuous exercise and heavyweight lifting.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
