Experiencing Severe Breast Pain. What Could Be Cause?

I am a female 46 years of age and am experiencing a lot of breast pain with the slightest of touch/brush against clothing. More pronounced in the areola and nipple area. the left breast is smaller than younger years while the right is of the same size.

Hi, thank you for writing to HCM. With this presentation in my clinic, I would first think of an inflammation of breast called mastitis often caused by bacteria (Staphylococcus). Antibiotics to which the bacteria are sensitive, associated with an anti-inflammatory drug will do the magic here. The second option is breast cancer but it is not often associated with severe pains. in my opinion, I think you need to see a doctor for proper assessment.
I hope I have answered your query
I wish you good health
