Experiencing Stomach Pain And Heartburn After An Accident. Underlying Cause?
I had an accident last May, broke 5 ribs, since then I have had lots of stomach pains and heartburn. The only time I have ever had heartburn was when I was pregnant. Have gained 13 pounds since being hurt, but exercising and dieting constantly. I know something is wrong but not sure what. Was wondering if Tubal Pregnancy could be possible.
Heartburn can be seen in pregnancy due to relaxation of the gastric sphincters due to the effect of the hormone progesterone leading to regurgitation.
But pregnancy is not the only condition that can present with heart burn. other causes are: - Fatty spicy foods, coffee, alcohol, etc. - Stress and strain - Analgesics - Structural causes like hiatus hernia etc.
Antacids with anti-emetics help in curing mild heartburn, and antispasmodics for pain. In severe cases endoscopy is recommended. If you are doubtful about ectopic pregnancy, please go for ultrasound once, this will help in ruling out the possibility of ectopic pregnancy and in finding out any other causes of pain abdomen.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
