The clitoral hood or prepuce is the skin tissue that covers and surrounds the clitoris, which is the highly sensitive and arousing erectile tissue of the female. In some women, this skin tissue can be excessively enlarged, thus covering the clitoris excessively. If it covers the clitoris so much that sexual stimulations cannot be adequately achieved during lovemaking, this can be a problem for the woman. Often this is in conjunction with enlarged labia minora that the woman dislikes. When the enlargement of the clitoral hood negatively impacts sexual pleasure during lovemaking, reduction of the excess skin can be performed to allow adequate stimulation.
