Extreme Diarrhea With Lot Of Gas And Little Blood. History Of Intake Of Cipro Tablet For UTI. Help

I was placed on Cipro 250 mg. twice a day for a UTI. I took it for 4 days and then started with extreme diarrhea. I've been off the Cipro 3 days now and I still have diarrhea. I don't believe there is any blood and now it is alot of gas and only aliitle of the other. My doctor told me to eat yogurt and I'm doing that but when will it stop?

Thanks for your query.Based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have diarrhoea with slight blood in stools.
This is most likely to be due Amoebic Colitis and is very common .However this can be confirmed by stool examination.
Please take antibiotics like Ciprofloxacin along with anti amoebic agent like Ornidazole twice daily.
Drink more water to keep yourself well hydrated and have soft diet .
Please get prescription of these drugs from your family Physician.
It will get cured within a week.
