Extreme Hairloss. Diagnosed Low Ferritin. Prescribed Ferrous Sulfate 3 Times A Day. On Bupropion Which Causes Constipation. Can Taking All 3 Pills At Night Be Alright?
hello! my hair has been completely shedding and thinning. i took a blood test and i have very low ferritin, at a level of only 13. my doctor told me to take ferrous sulfate 3 times a day but im nervous because i take bupropion during the day which causes constipation alone. i want to start the ferrous sulfate tonight. is it bad to take 3 pills all at once at night? or should i just take one pill only tonight

You are right both ferrous sulfate and bupropion cause constipation. For Iron deficiency anemia( low ferritin), ferrous sulfate tab is usualy given 3 times daily to avoid stomach upset. If you take 3 pills all at once at night, it may cause stamach pain , nausea, vomitting and even diarrhea. For constipation, you can use docusate sodium 100 mg to 200 mg per day with high intake of oral fluids, such as water.

You are having low ferritin level and hair loss problem but it is not clear do you have anemia that is low Hemoglobin level.
You should understand any iron preparation causes some gastric upset that is nausea, constipation.
Please take Iron tablets prescribed by your Physician.Taking all three tablet in night may not be tolerated.
You can take one pill to night and then see how it is tolerated and if any problem please contact your Physician to start at low dose and gradually increase the dose .
THe other drug you are taking may add to constipation please increase your water intake and increase fibre in diet to avoid constipation.
Taking citrous fruits source of vitamin C increases effectiveness of Iron supplements.
If Iron is not tolerated at all due to some reason then it may be given by parenteral routes.
