Extreme Pain And Swollen Left Labia Near Bartholin Gland
my left labia near bartholin gland has swollen in under 20 minutes..i have had abcess from a bartholin cyst on that same side before but it took about teo weeks for the absess to form. Today i felt extreme sharp pain and then it swoll immediately, the swollen area is larger than my vagina width so about 2-4 inches all around. after taking an ibuprofen theres no pain. Im curious as to what is going on and if i need immediate medical attention?
You have a recurrent bartholin gland cyst. What you are describing is quite large, and I am guessing that given how fast that it has progressed, is likely quite painful as well.
Sometimes, the fluid in the cyst can become infected, called a Bartholin Gland abscess. Given the acute nature of your problem, I think that it requires immediate attention. It can be drained and you can be put on the appropriate antibiotics, hopefully before this becomes a surgical problem.
Good luck!!
