Extreme Pain In Back, 2 Ribs Broken, Pain Radiating To Thigh Muscle. Any Thing Wrong?
I am having extream pain in my back, i broke my two bottom ribs when i was 11 (im 23 now) and have always had back pain but for the past two days nothing has worked. Its now traveling down my back to my glutes and in the back of my theigh muscles, is this something more than just pain? can this cause more damnage if it continues. its making me feel like im about to faint and i feel like all my back muscles have seezed up me.
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.
Severe back pain radiating to the thighs could be suggestive of a spinal problem.
The possibilities are:
- Herniated spinal disc or disc prolapse
- Sciatica - condition caused by compression of a spinal nerve root in the lower back, often owing to degeneration of an intervertebral disk
- Spinal stenosis - condition in which the spinal canal narrows and compresses the spinal cord and nerves.
- Spondylitis - problem in the spinal vertebrae, resulting in irritation of the spinal nerve roots.
I would suggest that you have proper physical examination done by a doctor, and an X-ray of the spine, in order to determine the cause. The broken ribs which you had at the age of 11 are unlikely to be the cause of acute and severe back pain now. So, please see a doctor for further evaluation.
Wish you all the best.
Regards,
Dr. Jonas Sundarakumar
