Extremely Dry Skin Around Mouth, Swollen, Cracked Lips, White Lining Around Lips. On Losartan HCTZ For BP. Healthy Lifestyle. Suggest
Since last one month I started to get extremely dry skin around my mouth and I wake up with swollen lips and even cracked at both ends. I am 62 years old and my normal skin quality is excellent. I take blood pressure medicine Losartan HCTZ 50mg/ 12.5 once daily Now I am noticing a whilte lining around my lips. I am not comfortable with it. I always got compliments for my skin and now it's a sad situation. I walk a lot in the morning just to get my exercise. I drink plenty of water close to 64 fl oz. Please help me. Thanks
Both hydrochlorthiazide(HTZ) and losartan cause facial skin disorders, they appear to be more with HTZ.It would help if you stopped the HTZ and took another diuretic instead (like Alldactone/Frusemide) for some time after consultation with your doctor. If the oral lesions heal, you can continue with the Losartan. If the lesions do not appear to be affected, you can stop the losartan too.Apart from drug sensitivity ,other causes should also be ruled out.
