Family History Of Elephantiasis. Will My Children Or I Suffer With The Same?
Hello Doctor, Good morning! There is a girl, 25 yrs old. Her mother has got little Elephantiasis in her one leg. Infact, her (the girl s) mother s elder sister, grand mother, grand mother s sister have suffered the same. So far, this girl has not affected so. but, will she suffer in future? if she marries, will her children suffer the same? please let me know.

Elephantiasis is not a Genetic disorder and its not familial. Elephantiasis is transmitted by bite of culex mosquitoes. if one family member having this problem a mosquito bites the affected person and then later bites a normal person, the normal person develops this problem. so its transmitted by bite of mosquitoes. so keep control of mosquitoes around you.
