Feeling Cold, Feverish, Took Malaria Drugs, Got Foam And Blood In Mouth

my 18 year old male cousin passed away on wensday.according tomy sister.the night before,he had complained of feeling cold and feverish and on the morning of his death, he was foaming in the month as well as bleeding. he had taken some malaria drugs before going to bed. could it have been fake drugs , allergy or other problems. no autopsy , is usually carried out here in most parts of Nigeria, Thanks.

Thank you for getting in touch with us. As I see, your cousin passed away on Wednesday. Without having a look, it is impossible for us to pinpoint an exact reason. There is something which we would like you to know as it might be of some benefit to you in the future. Although, it is not mentioned here, I think you are of African origin as you are from Nigeria. Many individuals from African country have a deficiency of an enzyme G6PD (Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase). If these individuals take anti-malarial drugs, it can lead to severe hemolysis (breakdown of red blood cells). This can lead to severe complications and even death. But as we mentioned above, we can't tell you the exact reason as we have not seen the patient. Hope this helped
